I love playing tennis, it’s probably the most important of many sports to our family. We enjoy a very active lifestyle together of running, hiking, surfing and biking, (I could go on endlessly!) but tennis has a really special place in all our hearts. I have been really lucky to see each of the four Grand slams in person, France/ US /Australia/ Wimbledon (it helps that my husband is a passionate lifelong tennis player and professional tennis coach so watching and playing tennis is a shared love and something our whole family takes a great deal of pleasure from).
The best tennis court to play on is Burton Court which is situated in the heart of Chelsea and part of the Royal Hospital Chelsea and is a private club the membership costs of which are used to generate funds for the running costs and maintenance of the Royal Hospital. My favourite stroke has to be my forehand, it’s super reliable for me and (on a good day) I can hit a winner from anywhere on the court.
For me the best will always be Wimbledon, the energy is extraordinary, the backdrop steeped in history. Watching Roger Federer defeat Andy Roddick in the final, 5-7, 7-6, 3-6, 16-14 to win the Gentlemen’s Singles tennis title at the 2009 Championships is an all-time life highlight for me. It was his sixth Wimbledon title, and a record breaking 15th major title overall, finally surpassing Pete Sampras‘ all-time record. The most exciting current player has to be the young Italian Jannik Sinner who recently won a major and is number 2 in the world at only 22. I am also totally inspired by Iga Swiatek who is also only 22 and the women’s world number 1. They are both off-the-charts incredible and really revitalising tennis.
I would like to take a moment to thank our wonderful suppliers involved in the event with a mention below. We could not have pulled this together without your support, imagination and good nature – thank you for being a part of this wonderful project. Do make sure you head down to the Chelsea Design Centre this month to see the space with your own eyes. I will also be a guest speaker on June 11 for a Panel Discussion hosted by Homes & Gardens. Chaired by Sarah Speteri, Global Brand Director of Future Publishing, fellow WOW! Designer Suzy Hoodless and I will share personal insights and inspiring ideas around ‘Creating Magical Spaces.‘ Be sure to secure your tickets below.

Fromental are makers of hand-painted, embroidered, and printed wallcoverings, framed artworks and objects. Founded by designer-makers Tim Butcher and Lizzie Deshayes in 2005, the business’s ethos is rooted in a deep love and respect for beauty. Beauty is fundamental to a good life, and Fromental’s artists empower each customer and collaborator to welcome it generously into their every day. Timelessly elegant, the luscious Chelsea Green colourway of KP’s collaboration with Fromental – ‘An English Butterfly Garden,’ showcases flowers, including honeysuckle, camellias, duchess peonies, jasmine and forget-me-nots. Hand-painted in the loose chinoiserie style, this striking palette features delicate flora rendered in a soft, largely monochrome scheme set against a rich background of deep green silk. The name Chelsea Green is a nod to one of Katherine’s favourite parts of London, Chelsea, home to her beloved Chelsea Physic Garden – a hidden green sanctuary amidst the bustle of the city. With every piece sold, a donation will be made to support Butterfly Conservation, a wonderful charity, whose work protects and conserves endangered British butterflies and their habitats.
