This Easter weekend I am stepping back from the studio and taking some time to enjoy the simple pleasures of home life. After a whirlwind start to the year with a number of international projects installed including in Hong Kong, Mallorca, Sardinia, a variety of industry events and overall continuous travel including a family trip to Athens, I am wholeheartedly looking forward to some time at home.

Nestled in the English countryside, my home is my sanctuary – filled with the things I love most: my family, my animals, and the thoughtful details that bring me joy. Inside the house, a number of rooms are adorned with An English Butterfly Garden – the wallpaper I designed in collaboration with Fromental.
At this time of the year it is perfectly paired with the evolving landscape of nature, the flowers are blooming and the wildlife full of life and these beautiful hand-painted silk panels, with their delicate butterflies and botanicals, really feel like a living artwork. It’s a celebration of English craft and springtime beauty, and it brings such a sense of calm and lightness to the space.

Every time I walk through my home and its surrounding gardens, I’m reminded why I love what I do. It is an honour to craft a home and I am so blessed that others trust me into their personal spaces.
Much of the weekend will be spent outdoors with my dogs, chickens and ducks. They’re such a lively, loveable part of life in the countryside, and I find real joy in the little rituals – feeding them in the mornings, walking the dogs through the garden, or simply sitting quietly while the birdsong fills the air. There’s something magical about spending a few quiet days surrounded by nature and it’s in those moments I find the most inspiration – not from anything grand, but from the honest rhythm of nature and daily life.

Although it may seem much of my professional world revolves around bold, innovative and large-scale interiors, at home I tend to favour layered neutrals, natural materials and pieces I’ve collected over the years. My design philosophy is always rooted in emotion – spaces should tell your story, carry memories, and offer comfort. Home should reflect who you are at your most authentic.

This Easter I am reminded of the beauty in slowing down. Whether I’m designing a beautiful residence, hotel or yacht, or gathering eggs from the hens, I try to keep heart in everything I do. That, to me, is the essence of true luxury: a life full of intention, grounded in beauty and joy.
Hope you all have a beautiful Easter weekend,
Katharine x
