…To instantly refresh your interior this Summer.

Something I always get asked is how to update your home in accordance with the seasons. I have therefore outlined below some of my simplest top tips to update your home this summer.

Change out lampshades

I found these gathered vintage sari silk shades at Guinevere Antiques they added a fun pop of colour and a pretty soft texture.

Hang wallpaper panels

Companies like de Gournay and Fromental always have some panels in stock, when framed they look so smart and they will add instant glamour to a neutral bedroom.

Scale up your art

A largescale, vivid painting by Rebecca Main from the gallery Cadogan Contemporary transforms this neutral dining room. Be daring with artwork choices and go as big as possible for maximum impact.

Large sculptural vases

We’ve seen a renaissance of crystal-cut glass in the last few years. Simultaneously elegant and bold, these vases will help elevate a space on their own or with a beautiful bunch of blooms filling them.

Re-position furniture

I love to turn a desk and position it behind a sofa back. It is so much more uplifting to face into the room when you work. This large canvas by the talented artist Jessica Zoob adds texture and width to the room giving it an extra dimension.

Add exotic plants

Adding greenery or plants to your home will instantly transform an area. White flowers can look a little passé, choose exotic and brightly hued colours like these pink orchids from the marvellous McQueens Flowers.

Embrace outdoor space

The simplest of urban, outdoor areas can be totally restyled with potted olive trees, patterned table cloths (like this one from Mrs Alice) and pretty tableware. Change up your everyday setting with fresh colours and seasonal cut flowers.

I hope that this has given you an idea or two of simple yet effective ways of transforming your house for the different seasons; even the smallest adjustments can make the biggest difference.
